weekly update

Well I said that I would try to post regularly and seeing as its Sunday and I haven’t posted for nearly a week I thought I better type something up.

I haven’t worked out how to incorporate this blog into my website yet (www.gre-sqlserver-solutions.com) but when I do hopefully the link between the two will be seamless.

I have been spending sometime this weekend researching and preparing an article on Statistics for SQL Server. I will hopefully be in position to write this up in the following week and publish on the website. I will post here when it is published. I will also try to publish some slightly more interesting posts in the future too.

SQL BITS Goes West

I attended the SQL BITS conference the weekend just gone and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately I was only able to attend on Saturday I would have liked to have gone on the Friday but circumstances were against me but my friends and colleagues that did make the Friday said it was also an excellent day.

I followed the DBA/Performance sessions and I saw some very good speakers:

Simon Sabin
R Meyyappan
Brent Ozar
Christian Bolton
Justin Langford

I particularly enjoyed Christian Bolton’s Vital Statistics session and Brent Ozars Perf Mon and Profiler session although all five were excellent.

They have given me some ideas for some new articles so check out www.gre-sqlserver-solutions.com website for my latest articles

The conference was excellent and I will definitely by attending any future conferences.

My Blog - An Introduction

Welcome to my blog, I’m GRE and I’m a SQL Server DBA based in the UK. This is officially my first attempt at writing a blog. I will try to write regularly, at least once a week and will try to keep my posts relevant and up to date. If you would like to make a comment on anything that I say on these pages please feel free to do so.

I also maintain a website, www.gre-sqlserver-solutions.com where I and few colleagues write SQL Server articles, hints tips and tutorials. Please feel free to check it out. The site also sends a monthly newsletter which I recommend you join to keep up to date with the latest developments in the database world.
