Microsoft Migration Assistant v5.0 Released

As I was surfing around twitter after the marathon TV event that was the Royal Wedding came to end last friday I noticed a tweet by @MicrosoftSQLCSS announcing the release of SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) v.5.0. This is free to download tool that helps you migrate from other platforms like MySQL, Oracle, Sybase and Access. I say migrate I guess if I wanted to be controversial I call it upgrading, but I won’t ;-)

I haven’t had a chance to download and try the new version yet but it will help you convert database in any of the above platforms to SQL Server, including Denali,  or if the cloud is your thing SQL Azure.

You can find the page to download this tool here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataaccesstechnologies/archive/2011/04/29/microsoft-releases-sql-server-migration-assistant-ssma-v-5-0.aspx?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Calling all UK Bloggers…

Amazingly It’s been just over 4 months since I started my list of UK based SQL Server bloggers, and I think it’s time for a revamp or spring clean of my list. If you maintain a SQL Server themed blog or you know of someone who does, they are based in the UK and they are not included  in my list and you think they should be, please do leave me comment with their URL and twitter information and I will get the list updated.
