Amazon Kindle Fire Released

Amazon has released the latest version of it Kindle – the Kindle Fire HD.

It seems amazon are moving away from a dedicated reading device and trying to compete with the tablet market – I’m thinking iPads etc.

With support for Gmail Twitter Facebook and other social networking and a huge selections of Films and over course books, its no doubt going to compete with the iPad and other devices, especially as its less costly than some of the other devices.

You can see the Kindle Fire HD 7", Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fidevice here.

The Kindle Fire HD 8.9", Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi  version is due for release on 20th November – just in time for Christmas.

I haven’t tried this device yet but I’m hoping to soon, I will report back with a review when I have tried it and put it through its paces.

Blog Changes

I have made a few changes to the blog over the past couple weeks The changes have come about as I realised I needed to freshen things up a little bit and ensure the blog was in a state so that it was able to meet my goals and objectives.

The changes have been subtle, I have added a couple of new pages around consulting and training ensuring that the blog highlights the services that my company offers. I have undertaken a little bit of search engine optimization (SEO) too, nothing grand and I don’t make any claims that I know exactly what to do in terms of SEO. From my perspective its more trail and error. I do know though that there is no magic solution to getting traffic. If you write great content people will find you and it doesn’t hurt to help that along if you can. Help, is all it is though and without the content you won’t get traffic.

Anyway I digress, over the next few months along with SQL Server related content I intend to write some posts on blogging and I’m considering some writing projects for 2013 which I will share with you in due course. I am getting involved in a new SQL Server website too but there will be more about that in future posts too. So stay tuned for more changes before the end of the year.
