Blogs on the Pod Fantasy Football Edition
It’s been an interesting week for me. I spent a few days working with a large auditing firm to help them understand various technology stacks to help them better prepare for auditing their clients. I really enjoyed my time with them and learned a lot about how audits work in general. I also run two introduction to Power BI sessions for another customer. Those sessions went pretty well too. It’s always fun when you see people realise the power of data and what it can do for their business.
I have also been busy with videos and blogs. With a Power BI and Fantasy Football theme. The premier league and thus fantasy football starts next Friday – Friday the 13th – Lucky for some. - Adriano Da Silva posted that he is speaking at Data TGIF (which is an event run by Kay Sauter, another pod member) on the 20th of August. It looks like a great session, so if you’re free on the 20th why not go and sign up. Adriano is talking about Analytics with Spark and Synapse. It looks like a really interesting session.
- Adriano also posted about an event he organises – Microsoft Data and AI – South Florida, they have a session on the 18th August all about migrating SQL Server on-premises to Azure SQL Database. It looks like another fantastic event
- James Reeves posted a great tip if you have created a database object in the wrong schema – short sweet and very helpful
- Chris Gibson Published a blog called “Azure DevOps REST calls using Microsoft interactive authentication.” You can read the post here. It is well worth a read
- Wolfgang Strasser shared via a Linkedin post and a Blog post the Azure Architecture Guides. A very useful resource for everyone and if you’re working on the Azure data platform a must read.

Pod Discussion: What works best on Linkedin
The Pod is, in effect, a WhatsApp group, which means you know we chat. We were talking about the best times and best types of posts when publishing on Linkedin. I like it when we chat about stuff like this because I usually learn something new about how people approach posting. We talked about whether its best to have the link to the content in a post or put it in the comments. We also chatted about using the post as a discussion area and sharing content directly in the Linkedin Post. James, a new member had some success posting some useful advice around database objects and Schemas direct in post with the post getting 2.5K views in a couple of hours
The POD is open to newcomers, the only criteria is you are a data platform professional. That way it makes it easy for everyone to comment on your posts and content. It can really help you expand the reach of the content you are creating.
