The tiers are clean multiples of our published £1,250 day rate. Nothing is hidden in the bundle.

All tiers are rolling monthly with 30 days notice, exclusive of VAT. Unused days do not accumulate; scope flexes month to month by agreement. If the estate needs more than four days a month, that is a conversation about a different shape of engagement, and we will say so.

The first month: what onboarding looks like

Every arrangement starts the same way regardless of tier, because you cannot maintain what you have not measured. The first month establishes the baseline: every instance inventoried with version, edition and patch level; backup jobs verified against an actual restore, not a green tick; security posture reviewed, including the sysadmin list that has grown by accretion for a decade; performance baselined so that next quarter's "it feels slow" has numbers behind it; and the whole estate documented in a form your team owns.

Two things come out of that month. The first is a prioritised findings list, the same structure as our paid health check, with anything urgent flagged immediately rather than saved for a report. The second is the standing rhythm for the months that follow: what gets checked on every visit, what gets patched on what cadence, and what the escalation route is when something breaks on a Tuesday night. If you leave after three months, the baseline and the documentation leave with you. That is deliberate. A service you can exit cleanly is a service you can trust while you stay.

Fractional DBA, virtual DBA, managed service: what is the difference?

The terms overlap and the market uses them loosely. A fractional DBA is a named senior person retained part-time: you know who is working on your estate and they know your systems.
