What is the DP-600 certification, and who is it for?
DP-600 is Microsoft's certification for Fabric Analytics Engineers. It validates the ability to design, build, and deploy enterprise-scale analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, data warehouses, dataflows, pipelines, notebooks, and semantic models. The current exam (Implementing Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric) is 100 minutes long with 40 to 60 questions, including case studies. The four skill areas are: plan, implement, and manage a solution for data analytics (10 to 15 percent), prepare and serve data (40 to 45 percent), implement and manage semantic models (20 to 25 percent), and explore and analyse data (20 to 25 percent).

Common Questions
Do I need to pass PL-300 before DP-600?
No, PL-300 is not a formal prerequisite. Microsoft strongly recommends it, however, because DP-600 assumes you can already build Power BI reports, write DAX, and configure a semantic model. If you don't have PL-300 or equivalent practical experience, the natural sequence is to take the PL-300 course first, then DP-600. Microsoft's own PL-300 course conclusion explicitly recommends DP-600 as the next step.
How is the DP-600 exam structured?
The exam is 100 minutes, with 40 to 60 questions. Question types include multiple-choice, multiple-response, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank, and case studies that test applied scenarios. What languages do I need to know for DP-600?
Microsoft expects familiarity with at least one of: SQL (specifically T-SQL for Fabric warehouses), KQL for real-time intelligence, or DAX for semantic models. The course covers all three in the context where each is used. You don't need to be expert-level in all three, but you should be comfortable reading and writing one of them.
What's the difference between DP-600 and DP-700?
DP-600 covers Fabric for analytics engineers: lakehouses, warehouses, semantic models, and the analytics development lifecycle. DP-700 covers Fabric for data engineers: ingestion, orchestration, transformation, and real-time intelligence. Most people building Power BI reports or semantic models in Fabric need DP-600. DP-700 is for engineers building the data pipelines that feed those models. Some teams pursue both.
Is the DP-600 exam voucher included?
