Featured Snippet

What is the DP-600 certification, and who is it for?

DP-600 is Microsoft's certification for Fabric Analytics Engineers. It validates the ability to design, build, and deploy enterprise-scale analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, data warehouses, dataflows, pipelines, notebooks, and semantic models. The current exam (Implementing Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric) is 100 minutes long with 40 to 60 questions, including case studies. The four skill areas are: plan, implement, and manage a solution for data analytics (10 to 15 percent), prepare and serve data (40 to 45 percent), implement and manage semantic models (20 to 25 percent), and explore and analyse data (20 to 25 percent).

This course covers all four exam areas across seventeen modules over four days, delivered against the current DP-600 exam blueprint by a Microsoft MVP and Certified Trainer.

Why this DP-600 course

Built for Practitioners, Not Just Exam Takers

Most DP-600 training treats Fabric as a list of features to memorise for the exam. This course teaches Fabric as a platform to operate. You leave knowing not just what a lakehouse is, but when to choose one over a warehouse, when to layer the medallion architecture, when to reach for Direct Lake, and where it breaks at scale.

🏗️

Architecture, not features

When to use lakehouse versus warehouse, when Direct Lake earns its place, when to add a gold layer. The decision frameworks that come from real Fabric deployments, not the documentation.

Performance from the start

Star schema as default. Calculation groups, field parameters, large semantic model storage. The patterns that scale to 100GB and the ones that quietly break at 10GB.

🔧

Modern Fabric tooling

Source control via Git integration. Deployment pipelines for promotion. XMLA endpoints, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio. The professional-grade development practices most courses skip.

🎯

Exam-aligned, but not exam-only

Every exam objective covered across all four skill areas. But the course is designed for delegates who will own Fabric in production on Monday morning, not just sit the exam.

How this compares

How This DP-600 Course Compares

The UK DP-600 training market is fragmented. Knowledge Academy and QA charge enterprise pricing for a roster of unknown trainers. Independent providers run cheaper but with limited Fabric experience. This course sits between those two positions: MCT and MVP-led delivery at a price point well below the corporates.

DP-600 is the certification where Microsoft has set the bar for what an analytics engineer actually does in 2026. It is not a Power BI exam dressed up as Fabric. It tests architecture, lifecycle, performance, security, and SQL alongside DAX. The course is designed for delegates who will own the platform, not just author reports on it. What delegates say

What Previous Attendees Have Said

Gethyn explained the Fabric architecture in a way that made the lakehouse versus warehouse decision actually obvious for the first time. The hands-on time with Direct Lake was worth the course on its own. DP-600 cohort delegate
I came in with strong Power BI but no Fabric experience. After four days I was confident enough to lead our Fabric proof-of-concept the following week. Practical, well-paced, and the materials are properly current. DP-600 cohort delegate
The medallion architecture session alone justified the cost. Most courses treat it as a slide. This one had us building Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers in a real Fabric workspace. DP-600 cohort delegate

Common Questions

Do I need to pass PL-300 before DP-600?

No, PL-300 is not a formal prerequisite. Microsoft strongly recommends it, however, because DP-600 assumes you can already build Power BI reports, write DAX, and configure a semantic model. If you don't have PL-300 or equivalent practical experience, the natural sequence is to take the PL-300 course first, then DP-600. Microsoft's own PL-300 course conclusion explicitly recommends DP-600 as the next step.

How is the DP-600 exam structured?

The exam is 100 minutes, with 40 to 60 questions. Question types include multiple-choice, multiple-response, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank, and case studies that test applied scenarios. The four skill areas are weighted: plan, implement, and manage a solution for data analytics (10 to 15 percent), prepare and serve data (40 to 45 percent), implement and manage semantic models (20 to 25 percent), and explore and analyse data (20 to 25 percent). The pass mark is 700 out of 1000.

What languages do I need to know for DP-600?

Microsoft expects familiarity with at least one of: SQL (specifically T-SQL for Fabric warehouses), KQL for real-time intelligence, or DAX for semantic models. The course covers all three in the context where each is used. You don't need to be expert-level in all three, but you should be comfortable reading and writing one of them.

What's the difference between DP-600 and DP-700?

DP-600 covers Fabric for analytics engineers: lakehouses, warehouses, semantic models, and the analytics development lifecycle. DP-700 covers Fabric for data engineers: ingestion, orchestration, transformation, and real-time intelligence. Most people building Power BI reports or semantic models in Fabric need DP-600. DP-700 is for engineers building the data pipelines that feed those models. Some teams pursue both.

Is the DP-600 exam voucher included?

No. The Microsoft DP-600 exam voucher is purchased separately from Pearson VUE. The cost is set by Microsoft and varies by region. Guidance on booking the exam, choosing between online proctoring and a test centre, and what to expect on the day, is provided as part of the course.

Will I have hands-on access to Microsoft Fabric during the course?

Yes. All delegates work in a real Fabric environment throughout the four days, using a Fabric trial capacity provisioned for the cohort. You will build lakehouses, warehouses, dataflows, pipelines, notebooks, and semantic models in genuine Fabric workspaces. Private cohorts can optionally use the contracting organisation's own Fabric capacity.

Can the course be delivered privately for my team?

Yes. Private cohorts are the most common delivery format for DP-600 because the exercises benefit enormously from being run against your real Fabric estate. Syllabus is tailored to the architecture decisions your team is actually facing. Private cohorts run from £6,500 and are quoted on a fixed-price basis.

Will course materials be available after training ends?

Yes. All delegates receive digital copies of slides, lab exercises, and practice questions. Public cohort recordings are available for 90 days. Private cohort recordings are retained indefinitely for the contracting organisation.
