Monitoring is a wonderful thing, and there are many tools out there to do this.  However, many of these are very expensive, particularly for a large estate.

So in this presentation, i’ll show you how to:

Install the free tools that we will use; Telegraf for metrics collection, InfluxDB as a data repository and finally Grafana for data presentation.

Explain and configure these tools to first collect and then present detailed performance metric data for the SQL Server platform via real time Grafana dashboards.

Finally, we will touch upon other monitoring possibilities of this configuration.
