Live Blog Day 4: PASS DATA COMMUNITY SUMMIT
I’m attending the PASS Data Community this week in Seattle and, mainly as a record for myself so I can look back and see how the event has gone, but also to share the experience with others who may be thinking of attending events like this in the future I’m going to try and live blog each day.

Day 4 Summary
Day 4 is the 2nd of three days of the conference proper. Here is a summary section of Day 2

So I had a break for a few hours to practice my session that I’m delivering tomorrow. My demos are recorded so I needed to make sure that they worked as expected and I know what to say. I also wanted to practice the new material that I added to the presentation yesterday.
My talk is called “Driven by the 9s – Do you need a highly available data platform”
So that has been my day thus far; now I’m feeling comfortable with my I’ going to attend Bradley Schacht’s session called Power BI and Azure Synapse Analytics this afternoon.

78% of businesses have 2 or more database systems. Fragmentation is happening and accelerating. You need to choose the right database for the job.
The application can influence the database choice. Micro services are having a big impact.

I’m live blogging the Keynote this morning and I want to do some networking today. Edwin Sarmiento, who has been a guest on our podcast, has contacted me and suggested we catch up. I’ll hopefully be able to that later in the day. First, I need to practice for Driven by the 9s session tomorrow.
12:30/04:30 Time to exercise
I like to run, it helps me relax and relieves some stress, I went to the gym and managed three miles on the treadmill
12:00/04:00 Have I beaten the jetlag
If you’ve been following along, you’d have noticed I have suffered a little with jet lag this week. Needing sleep early in the evening than being awake from the small hours. I noted the UK time, where I live and where my body clock thought we were still located.
I guess I’m somewhere over the mid-atlantic now, perhaps even the east coast. Last night, I managed to go to bed at around 10 pm and I woke up 4am this morning – all local time. So I have had a fraction more sleep overnight and the jet might be easing.
