Welcome to Blogs on the Pod – Everyone is panic buying petrol this week. Well, at least we are here in the UK. Nobody mention toilet rolls.
This week has been a fun week for me, I spent Monday in the UK with a large consultancy and the latter half of the week working with a client in the US talking about Power Platform. In between, I squeezed a trip to Molineux to watch Wolves v Spurs in the EFL cup. Unfortunately, the Wolves lost on penalties after an exciting game ended 2-2.
Then, on Thursday it became clear that another catastrophe was on the way for the UK. Some of the large oil/fuel-producing companies suggested that there might be an issue with the fuel supply line for the UK. It’s not the fuel or the petrol stocks apparently but the ability for the fuel to be delivered to petrol stations. The disruption to the supply line being caused by a shortage of HGV drivers. The government in their wisdom told people not to “panic buy” which prompted rather a lot of people to do the opposite and rush out and fill their cars up with fuel. I haven’t seen it like this since the tankers drivers strike of the late 90s/00s where people filled up wheelie bins full fuel so they could burn their house down with it but it’s not far off.
Anyway working from home my fuel consumption has been reduced dramatically so no dramas for us here at GE towers.

Blogs on the Pod and the “Hyperloglog Algorithm”
It’s the discussion though that has made the POD a very interesting read, at least for me this week. We have some very clever people on the Pod and we are all friends and like to chat and discuss data-related things. One member this week asked a question to the group about the “Hyperloglog Algorithm” I have enjoyed reading the links and I’ll include them at the end of the post.
